37 monuments in 30 days, and what I learned along the way.

The Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg is often described as one of the most haunted places in Canada. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, guests have long been reporting sightings of unquiet spirits that wander the hotel’s halls and corridors. Of all the stories though, the greatest number come from Room 202… where a young widow is said to have hanged herself in the closet, and ever since, those staying in the room have sometimes been disturbed by a presence that moans and whispers, or tries to crawl into bed beside them at night.
When I visited Winnipeg in April, I stayed at the Fort Garry Hotel… and naturally, I made sure I was in Room 202. One night I was visited there by a local ghosthunter, and together we tried to make contact with any spirits that might have been present. On my other nights I roamed the hotel’s corridors armed with a camera and an EMF meter.
I’ll write more about the history and alleged hauntings of the Fort Garry soon… but for now, here are some photos.
