One final note. I get a lot of comments and messages from people asking for directions to sites I've reported on. While I'll gladly help you to visit dark tourism sites such as museums and ossuaries, or give you advice on applying for a North Korean visa, don't expect me to just hand over coordinates for urban exploration locations.
There are a few reasons for this.
In the case of abandonments and ruins, a higher public profile is generally followed by higher traffic - that in turn means greater wear and tear, and in some sad cases, the appearance of graffiti and litter. In the case of private properties, an apparent increase in interest will invariably result in strengthened security measures.
I am however, generally open to sharing a tip for a tip with like-minded adventurers!
